Abstract Designs Decorative Hardware Celtic Style Collection offers the ancesteral irish design in knobs and 3 sizes of handles. The Celtic Knot design is decorative folk art with ancient beginnings and a rich history. While many of the ancient designs certainly had some spiritually significant meaning, these have been lost to the ages. The continual looping of the designs suggests themes of eternity and interconnectedness, and knots may have been made at one time to foil evil spirits. Interwoven figures of people and animals may have represented the interdependent nature of life-two or more knots laced together symbolize lovers, hunters and their prey, God and man, etc. Some knots were used as magical talismans for protection.
We are absolutely pleased with our purchase of these cup pulls and their companion round knobs. They are beautiful on our new cabinets. Note however, that if your cabinet doors/drawersaren't just flat, that is more decorative and thicker, you'll have to find extended length screws (they come with 1" and we needed 1 3/4"). All said and done, I couldn't be more pleased with my selection. You only want to do this once, do it right.
All I can say is 'Wow'! I searched for months for just the right knobs to go with my new Brazilian Cherry kitchen cabinets. The oil-rubbed copper looks fantastic against the wood and the Celtic design echoes our Irish roots. I can't get over how perfect these knobs are - glad I spent the time to find these.
