Disclaimer: As with all bronze, there will be eventual erosion of the surface causing the natural process of oxidation. The patina that develops is inevitability. Tiles in wet, damp climates will oxidize faster than those in dryer areas.DUE TO THE HANDMADE NATURE OF OUR BRONZE TILES, A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VARIATION IN COLOR, SHADE AND TONE IS TO BE EXPECTED.
Installation:
Tile should be installed as any other non-ceramic tile and conform to TCA Handbook of Tile Installation. A contractor should always be hired for the most professional results. These tiles are suitable for wall and floor installation with the exception of the coated finish which should only be used on walls.
Covering the tile with low tack painter's tape before installation will eliminate the need for heavy clean up. Use of a grout bag will also facilitate the process. For stubborn grout that remains in the detail of the bronze, extra care should be taken when rubbing it out, especially if sanded grout is used. Vigorous rubbing can cause the removal of the oxidized patina. Use a small toothbrush and lots of water to get into the recessed areas.
Cutting: Recommended: hack saw, jig saw (saber) or band saw using bi-metal blade.
Care: Bronze is a composite metal and will oxidize if left exposed to air. With the exception of RAW bronze, our tiles have been pre-oxidized to give them the beautiful look of weathered bronze. Once installed, we recommend a periodic light coat of Butcher’s Wax; with the powder-coated tiles being an exception. Cleaning should be done with NON ABRASIVE household cleansers only. Avoid the use of harsh chemicals and solvents. Once dry, apply a light coat of Butcher’s Wax and buff. The powder-coated tiles need only a dusting with a damp cloth.
