Founded in 1946, Baldwin was founded with the intention of creating decorative hardware that exemplifies outstanding quality as well as beauty. Baldwin products are made entirely in the United States with no parts being outsourced. Each item is cut from raw brass bars according to size and heat forged using an age-old technique to give it shape and design. Afterwards the item is put through the stamping press to cut any excess material and grinded to reveal a smooth product. During the 4th stage the item is give a finish and lacquered with an ultra-hard coating to make it rust and corrosion resistant. In the final step the item is buffed and polished with a jeweler’s rouge to reveal a flawless and lustrous shine. Baldwin’s entry and handle sets that have been ranked as one of the best by builders and designers alike, with an impeccable inner working that is durable and heavy-duty. The deadbolts in the entry and handle sets are reinforced with two hardened steel inserts for maximum protection and security, and contain antifriction inserts to provide a quiet closing. Baldwin locks are made from heavy gauge steel and plated with a rust-resistant coating, while the working parts are made of solid forged brass. Baldwin handles sets and entry sets derive from a variety of collections, each ideal for a different type of interior such as traditional, colonial, modern, rustic, and transitional. I love my new Baldwin hardware! I originally ordered new Kwikset hardware for my front door from Amazon. The price was half of the Baldwin hardware but upon installing it, the "matte black" finish was chipping and scraping off. I was like, "Are you serious?" The stuff was so cheaply made, I promptly returned it to Amazon. I decided to bite the bullet and spend double the money on the Baldwin hardware. I am so glad I did. The product is very heavy and solid which gives me a sense of security for my front door. The "finish" has not scratched or chipped in any way upon installation. It looks AMAZING. I would highly recommend Baldwin over Kwikset or Schlage and MyKnobs.com has great prices. The ordering was easy, the shipping was fast and free, and I am glad I spent more money to "upgrade" to a quality, first class product. Completely satisfied customer!

The Baldwin door handle came in great. It looks and works well. but I have a customized door from Pella and the latch plate supplied by Baldwin doesn't fit my door jam's opening. I have to buy another latch plate from a hardware store to fit the hole.
