About Acorn MFG door hardware:
In 1937 Victor Shaffer began manufacturing hardware in his garage, and that was the beginning of Acorn MFG. The original hardware line was made from cast brass and had a matte black finish, but the shortages caused by WWII forced Acorn Manufacturing to temporarily cease production. Shortly after Acorn was sold to Percy Lincoln Slayton, who moved the company to Mansfield, Massachusetts where it remains today. Percy and his family worked day and night to launch their first collection in 1948, a collection of architectural hardware made from cast brass and forged iron, the same materials Acorn products are manufactured from to this day. In 1970, Percy’s son Robert, took over the family business and under his leadership, Acorn saw unprecedented growth in terms of sales and profit. By the late 80’s Acorn had become known as “The Cadillac of Colonial Hardware,” favored for its quality products that were durable and aesthetically pleasing. Acorn’s growth continued through the years, and they slowly expanded their manufacturing capabilities as well as product diversification. Today, the company is a 3rd generation family owned and run business, who produces the same quality items, that are durable and mirror classical designs. Acorn offers a variety of door hardware such as pocket door hardware, door pulls, barn door hardware and accessories, in black or stainless-steel finishes, ideal for craftsman or mission style interiors. Acorn door hardware derives from several of their collections including Iron Art, Rough Iron, and Warwick, and is available in nearly 50 designs. Acorn door hardware represents the history and tradition of a company who actively strives to create timelessly elegant items and to remain faithful to their customers.
