Baldwin was founded in 1946 by Severin Faverman who wanted to create items that exemplified superior quality and craftsmanship. From concept to creation all Baldwin items are made in America by American workers dedicated to providing customers with products they can proudly display. Each item is made from solid brass and goes through a 5-step process starting with raw solid brass bars being cut to size. The item is then heat forged to give it shape and design, and afterwards it is put through the stamping press to cutoff any excess material. During the fourth step the item is given 1 of the 20 Baldwin finishes, and hand coated and lacquered for anti-corrosive properties and durability. Lastly the item is hand polished and buffed to a flawless shine with a jeweler’s rouge and inspected for any imperfections, ensuring it meets the Baldwin standard. Baldwin door hardware is truly stunning inside and out, with an inner mechanism praised by professionals and builders alike. Baldwin levers are available in 70 designs created to suit an array of interior designs such as traditional, contemporary, colonial, and rustic, and can be purchased according to door handing, door thickness, and backset size. The levers are also accessible in various functions such as dummy for interior spaces that require no latch to hold the door in place and can be opened from both sides, privacy function for bathrooms and bedrooms levers that lock from one side, keyed function that allows the door to be locked with a key from the outside, and passage doors that do not need to be locked.
