Using post consumer recycled aluminum reduces the generation of air and water pollution by 95%, requires only 5% of the energy and greenhouse gasses used in production of new metals, and helps prevent clear-cutting of tropical rainforests. The knobs are heavy and solid, with a beautiful matte black finish and a tiny little spur on the back, that digs into the door so that they don't spin and are always exactly vertical, as installed. They're beautiful.
