Interestingly, I thought these were all the same as far as the mortice requirements for proper operation was concerned. I was mistaken. The unit that I replaced this with was much smaller, and obviously decades older. These will last for many decades in most conditions. I had to cut a similar mortice in shape, but it had to be significantly deeper on 3 planes to make it fit and work within the thresholds of the cover plates.
