I purchased an antique desk with a drop down front, a secretary desk, several months ago and it is missing a key. I know many people are facing the same dilemma when buying an old desk. It is missing the strike plate, too, and the wood it was screwed into, so replacing the lock is not the solution. It looks like someone tried to solve the problem by screwing on a small backplate with a pull, but the only thing remaining is the indentation and the holes. I have been trying to a solution that would allow me to open the door and would fit the style of the desk. Going to a locksmith is not easy for me to do at this time. I have been looking at this mock key on this site for several months. I assumed from the photo the hole would fit into the lock and when turned, it would grab the lid. I finally ordered one. The hole is threaded for a screw, and the barrel is too wide to fit into the keyhole. I am satisfied with the ordering process, no complaints. Used for what this key was meant to be used for, I am sure any buyer will be satisfied.
